Myrtle McCrae
January 30, 1925 - May 29, 2017
Myrtle passed away at The Wascana Rehabilitation Center on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the age of 92 years.
She was predeceased by her parents David James Robinson and Louise Sarah Robinson (nee Dilts); brothers Coulter Robinson and David Edison.
Myrtle is survived by her sisters Nancy Carlin, Gail Turner and Marie Benoit (Leo); brothers Seymour Robinson (Aino) and Donald Robinson.
Myrtle was a CWAC member from 1943 to 1946. She was a commissionaire from 1983 until 1993. She worked at the Regina Airport, The Museum of Natural History and The Grey Nuns Hospital in the Kiosk.
Myrtle was a cancer survivor and has four children: Linda Erickson, Gail Jensen, Marlene Fryer and Stanley McCrae Jr. (Lois). Myrtle has two sons-in-law Major Jerald Fryer and Marvin Jordheim. Myrtle has seven grandchildren: Ian Fryer, Brian Fryer, Terri Strykowski, Erin Buyrk, Crystal Bray, Derek McCrae and Dayna Schwark. Her great grandchildren are six in number: Veronica and Jake Strykowski, Alexander and Carly Buryk and Elliot and Leah Bray.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Wascana Rehabilitation Center who so professionally cared for our mother over the past two years. We would like to thank Dr. Van der Heerden for his care of our mom. We would like to thank the hairdressing team at WRC and Peggie Beattie for Myrtle’s footcare all these years. We would also like to thank Elaine Metz for her assistance in visiting Myrtle as a Companion four times per week while our mom was at The Wascana Rehabilitation Center Veterans Floor. A very special thanks to Myrtle’s niece Pat Wagner who helped feed Myrtle at suppertimes for a period of time.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 23 Avenue, Regina, SK S4S 0A5 at a later date. Interment will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK at a later date. Full service details will be announced in a future edition of the Leader Post.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Myrtle may be made to the Regina Humane Society, PO Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7 or the War Amps, Key Tag Service, 1 Maybrook Drive, Scarborough, ON M1V 5K9, two of mom’s favorite charities.
