<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Helen Mary Theresa Syryda on Monday, February 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. <br><br>She is survived by and will be terribly missed by her son Duane Rathwell,; daughters Phyllis Rathwell (Larry Miller) and Kathleen Pack; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Blanche Segouin; and brothers Jim Harvey (Frances) and Ron Harvey (Donna). <br><br>Helen was predeceased by her husband Bill; her daughter Joanne; son-in-law Michael; grandson Jordan; parents Zenaide and Arthur Harvey; brothers Arthur, William and Edward; and sisters Edith and Yvonne. <br><br>Born in Qu’Appelle, SK, mom was so very proud to have served in WWII with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Her adult years were spent in Tompkins, Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatoon and finally in Calgary. <br><br>Mom loved the Saskatchewan Rough Riders, the Toronto Blue Jays, curling at all levels, bowling and a great game of cribbage. More than anything, she loved being with her family. <br><br>Helen faced and overcame many challenges throughout her life with courage, grace and a persistent and positive spirit. She was loved by all. <br><br>A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina, SK on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to mom’s favorite charities - the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 and the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, 1-4539 6 Street NE, Calgary, AB , T2E 3Z6. <br><br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.</div>
