<div itemprop="description">Our beloved son and brother, Dylan James Gordon Smith, age 23, of Regina, passed away suddenly in a dirt bike accident in the back country trails of West Kelowna, British Columbia on Thursday, April 13, 2017. <br> <br>He was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Herman and Agnes Smith, Humboldt; and cousin Matthew Mondor, Weyburn. <br> <br>He is survived by his parents, Ken Smith and Rachelle MondorSmith, Regina; brother Tyler, Regina; brother Ryan (Paije), Calgary; maternal grandparents, Shirley and Normand Mondor, Weyburn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. <br> <br>Dylan was born January 4, 1994, in Regina, SK. He fell in love with the outdoors at a young age. His favorite activities were mountain biking, dirt biking, traveling the world, and sleeping out under the stars in his “Hennessy Hammock”. <br> <br> His truck, “Earl”, took him anywhere he wanted to go, this allowed Dylan to spend his time building and fixing trails to ride and allow other riders to enjoy. His salt of the earth attitude and genuine demeanor was appreciated by anyone that met him. <br> <br>His greatest wish would be for his grieving friends and family to find solace in nature wherever and whenever you can. <br> <br>The family wishes to express their profound appreciation for the assistance and kindness of the first responders. The West Kelowna RCMP detachment – particularly Cst. Kent Hall – and the volunteers and operators at Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) who respectfully and painstakingly recovered our dear Dylan. <br> <br>A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, 4001 East Victoria Ave, Regina, SK on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. <br> <br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850. <br> <br>This poem by family friend Alison McNair was written to honor Dylan. <br> <br>Free Spirit <br> <br>At home in the mountains <br>The fresh air on your face <br>Remembering you in your hammock <br>At peace, in your happy place <br> <br>You were a child of nature <br>A lover of simple things <br>Laid back and easy going <br>Yet conversely up for anything <br> <br>You cheated death more than once <br>Always living life on the edge <br>To live life to the fullest <br>Was a notion that you pledged <br> <br>Though your body has passed on <br>Your spirit isn't deceased <br>Your family feels you in their presence <br>They know you're once again at peace <br> <br>Your free spirit impacted so many <br>You must see us mourning from above <br>Though we're in pieces, we find peace in knowing <br>You passed away doing what you love <br> <br>A life bigger than this world <br>You were destined to see <br>This life only held you back <br>Your free spirit was meant to be freed <br></div>
