<div itemprop="description">Dad passed away peacefully on Monday evening after a long illness at the General Hospital in Regina. I was fortunate to have been with him, as were the truly amazing nursing staff on Unit 5A. They made their profession proud with their love, support and caring, their kindness to Dad and me and their tolerance of Dad's good humored flirting. <br><br>I would also like to recognize Barb Hebner, Dad's private caregiver and a friend of the family, for her remarkable devotion to the very end. <br><br>Lyle was born into a solid prairie farming family in the exquisite Swan River Valley of northwest Manitoba, near the beautiful village of Benito. The eldest son of Bill and the truly amazing Amy, he was a good natured and fun loving young man and eventually married his high school sweetheart, Doreen, his wife for life. I came along shortly thereafter. <br><br>Mom and Dad decided to leave the farm and Dad settled in with the Toronto Dominion Bank to make a career. That did not mean we left the farm behind - my younger brother and I spent many enjoyable years with our cousins, our wonderful aunts and uncles and our grandparents, experiencing what I still believe is the best lifestyle Canada has to offer. Dad made his career with the TD bank which involved a variety of relocations - 15 in total I think - which eventually landed them in Regina, he in the TD head office and Mom at Eaton's where she was well known and much loved. <br><br>My brother and I largely suffered through this transient life style, although it did teach us how to make friends and fight - not necessarily in that order. When I reflect on Dad's life, I think of him as a social, successful man, a loving husband and a typical father of those times. The latter comment is not a criticism because my brother and I were loved and well cared for and had the best education available - but Dad was busy, not surprisingly, as a young aspiring banker moving forward in his career. <br><br>I remember my father best as a truly amazing grandfather. He adored his grandchildren - Logan and Zachary and my daughter Isabella. He (and Doreen when she was with us) would spend countless hours with them and travel the breadth of America and to the Caribbean to be a very important part of their grandchildren's life. Through that process, my brother and I came to know our father better ourselves. <br><br>Lyle is survived by his siblings Garry and Gail; his sons Rick and Randy; his grandchildren Logan, Zack, and Bella; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. <br><br>He was predeceased by our amazing beautiful wonderful mother and his wife Doreen; brother Larry; father William (Bill); and mother Amy. <br><br>Dad and Mom will rest at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. <br><br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.</div>
