February 5, 1926 - March 15, 2017
Tom Gentles died peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Later during his work career Tom completed a Master’s degree in Administration at the University of Regina and continued his education late in life at the U of R’s Lifelong Learning Centre. Tom had a productive career in the Saskatchewan provincial government rising to Deputy Minister at the Department of Highways. That led to an exciting second career in his retirement as a Canadian executive overseas with long term postings in Uganda, Indonesia and Myanmar (Burma).
Tom did extensive volunteer work lending his time and his talents to groups such as the Regina Archaeological Society, Nature Regina and the Prostate Cancer Canada Network–Regina.
Tom’s knowledge of science and nature made him the go to leader of many family camping trips and travels to the U.S. southwest, the Dakotas, the Rocky Mountains, and the grasslands and forests of Saskatchewan. On these trips and his international travels Tom practiced his love of photography that has left his family with a wealth of memories.
Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Beatrice; and son Glenn.
Tom leaves behind his brother Robert and his wife Maruk; daughter-in-law Shirley; grandchildren Aaron and Megan and her husband Elijah; great grandchildren Caleb, Ava, James and Gabriella; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family across western Canada and foster children internationally.
The family of Tom Gentles would like to thank the staff and health practitioners of the Allan Blair Cancer, Pasqua Hospital, Regina General Hospital, and Wascana Rehabilitation Centre for their generosity and kind care extended to Tom.
There will be no funeral service with interment at a family plot to follow at a later date.
