Rosella Zimmer
September 23, 1925 - January 17, 2014
It is with profound sadness that the family of Rosella Zimmer announce her passing on January 17, 2014, surrounded by the people who meant everything to her, her family.
Rosella was predeceased by her husband Frank (2008), her parents Ben and Anna Dust, and her siblings Louis, Aloysius, Irene, Norbert, Joseph, Marie and Leonard; as well as a number of other cherished Dust and Zimmer family members.
Rosella Margaret was born on September 23, 1925 in Bruno, SK. After graduating from St. Ursula’s Academy in Bruno SK, she obtained her teaching certificate and at just 17 years of age began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in rural SK. In 1946, Rosella accepted a teaching position in Cupar, SK where she met her husband of 60 years, Frank.
Rosella was the kind of mother, grandmother, great grandmother that every mother hopes they will be and a child would be lucky to have. Rosella will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her children: Clifford (Sue), Barry, Lorraine (Carl), Carol (Scott) and Gail (Glenn); her grandchildren, Stacey (Chris), Shawn (Janet), Melissa (Peter), Karla (J.P.), Mike, Kyle, Amy (Kris), Derek, Craig and Evan; and her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Taylor, Scott, Ashton, Logan, Clyde, Ellis, Samuel, Payton and Aubrey. Also survived by sister-in-laws Noreen, Kathleen and Shirley (Harold) and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Rosella’s devotion to her Catholic faith was evident by her lifelong involvement in the church, but more importantly, in the way she lived her life and treated others. She was a 50 year member of the CWL. She was legendary for not only remembering family and friends’ birthdays, anniversaries and other special events, but for also acknowledging their day with a phone call, card or prayer for them. Sometimes it was all three. Rosella was a truly remarkable woman whose unbelievable patience, kindness and concern for others will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
A PRAYER SERVICE will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1771 Bond Street, Regina, SK on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 8:15 pm, with Marian Grady, officiant.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at Holy Child Church, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 11:00 am with the Very Reverend Lorne D. Crozon, celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations in Rosella’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or the Canadian Cancer Society 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3
Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.
