Rose Eberle
March 8, 1934 - September 1, 2016
It is with profound sadness that the family of Rose Eberle announces the passing of a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend. Rose passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the age of 82 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Stan Eberle, in 2008.
Rose will be lovingly remembered by her children Karen (Peter) Szarkowicz, Cheryl (Ron) Martin, Curtis Eberle, Kevin (Kenda) Eberle and Dwayne (Elaine) Eberle. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren Shawn (Brittany) Martin, Tamara (Kevin) Beitel, Shannon (Colin) Hein, Devin (Kerry) Szarkowicz, Christopher (Candi) Martin, Aaron (Candice) Eberle, Adam Eberle, Celíne Eberle, Amanda Eberle, Shivaun Eberle, Dylan Eberle and Austin Eberle. Rose was also blessed with great grandchildren: Skylar and Bronwyn Martin, Tatianna and Jacob Beitel, Dré, Alyssa and Emily Hein, Lyla and Drake Szarkowicz, Katie, Hailey and Charley Martin, and Bryden Eberle. Rose was an inspiration to her entire family and exemplified strong values that will carry on for generations.
She is survived by her sister, Eleanor Duthie, and her brothers Leo (Loreen) Schaffer, Max (Margaret) Schaffer, and Steve Schaffer. She is also survived by her brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Annie Schaffer, Mike Weisgarber, Clementine (Walter) Knoll, Beatrice Simes, Geraldine (Jack) Bland, Edwin (Joan) Eberle, Gordon (Lorraine) Eberle, Lynn Eberle and Ken Chekay. Rose also shared her life with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Rose was predeceased by her parents, Magdalena (1951) and Adam Schaffer (1971); brothers, John, Jacob, John, Vincent (Margaret), Casper, Joseph, Anthony (Helen) and Peter Schaffer; sisters, Margaret (Anton) Weisgarber, Barbara Weisgarber; parents-in-law, Helen and Christopher Eberle; sister-in-law, Louise Chekay; and brothers-in-law, Sandy Duthie , Clem Herauf, Alfred Eberle and Bill Simes.
Born in Indian Head, Rose was raised on a family farm near Odessa, Saskatchewan. She was the twelfth of fifteen children and attended school at Sibel Plains. Rose was working at the Grey Nuns hospital when her mother died and she promptly quit to return home and help on the farm. It was at this time that she met, Stan, the love her life. They were married April 22, 1952. Stan and Rose had a wonderful life together, they worked hard but also enjoyed life to the fullest. They made many lifelong friendships along their journey.
Rose was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who always put her family first, she led by example in prioritizing others over herself while caring for everyone. She was the happiest when surrounded by her husband, family and friends. Everyone enjoyed her cooking, hospitality, and humour. As a devout Roman Catholic, Rose dedicated much of her life to the church. She was a 65-year member of the Catholic Women’s League and she loved singing with the church choirs, family and friends.
