<div itemprop="description">Jean passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 with her family by her side. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and cared for her. <br><br>She was predeceased by her parents Edmund and Blanche Wadey; sister Gloria; brother Ross Wadey; her husband of 62 years, Norman Amundson; and son-in-law Don Friesen. <br><br>Jean is survived by her sister Eileen Crowe of Chicago; children Norman (Jeanette) Amundson, Allan Amundson, Deborah Friesen, Juverna (Nick) Wright and Judith Amundson (Allan Walker); five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. <br><br>Jean was born and raised in Montreal. She had a lifelong passion for playing the piano. Her school days were spent performing at various events and seeking out opportunities to listen to symphonies and music performances. She loved jazz and as a young adult found herself playing at various clubs and dances in Montreal and surrounding area. During the war years, Jean also played in troop shows. This is where she met the love of her life, Norman Amundson. They moved out west to Swift Current and then married. <br><br>Jean’s love of music continued while raising the family and she completed more formal instruction in piano. She then taught music in Swift Current and later in Regina at the Conservatory of Music. She loved all types of music including classical and jazz. Jean provided entertainment for many functions and events. Music was always part of family life! <br><br>Education was also important to Jean and Norman. As their family moved through public and high school, they decided to move to Regina to enable their children to attend university. At the same time, mom became interested in furthering her own education and eventually obtained an Honours Degree in Arts. Her university years expanded her interests into social and policy issues. She opened up a non-profit organization, Birthright. Her work included speaking to numerous groups as well as providing assistance to individuals seeking counselling and support. <br><br>Jean was an avid reader and developed a substantial library focusing on Christian faith. She was strong in her faith and loved to engage in discussions. <br><br>A Private Funeral Service will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, officiated by Reverend Henry Friesen. <br><br>Jean would be honoured by memorial donations to a charity of your choice. <br><br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.</div>
