<div itemprop="description">COLES – F/O James Arthur RCAF – RAF WWII passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the age of 95 years. <br> <br>Born in Wadena, he grew up in the area of the Hamre School District, near Hanley, until his mid teen years. He left home to work as a farm hand and gained valuable knowledge in agriculture. <br> <br>Jim joined the RCAF in 1940, training in Lethbridge and Dafoe. In 1943 he was deployed to England and attached to the RAF Bomber Command. <br> <br>He returned to Canada and married his fiancé Marjorie in Niagara Falls, ON. He and Marge purchased a dairy farm NE of Balgonie, where they lived and worked side by side for over 60 years. <br> <br>In the mid 1970’s they were honoured with the Master Dairy Farmers Award. Jim was an avid reader, a motorcycle buff, a fisherman, a skilled hunter and marksman skeet shooter. <br> <br>Jim was a good baseball player and an avid curler. The community benefitted from his contributions to their church, the R.M., the Royal Canadian Legion and countless community fund raisers. <br> <br>Jim was a self-taught mechanic, welder, inventor, carpenter, butcher and a master of time management. Jim held most value for family, friends and neighbors and loved to play cards with them all. <br> <br>Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie Coles (nee Gienow); parents Arthur James and Mary Jane Coles (nee Dowdell); sister and brother-in-law Edna and Bill Clare; brother-in-law Jack Cruickshank; sister and brother-in-law Vera and Lawrence Mauch; father and mother-in-law Samuel and Anna Mary Gienow (nee Paul); brother-in-law Howard Gienow; sister-in-law Evelyn Gienow; and brother-in-law John Hagley. <br> <br>Left to mourn Jim’s passing are daughter Jane Broste-Warnes (Lorne Warnes); granddaughter Nicole Broste (Scott Campbell); great granddaughters Jordan and Samantha Campbell; son Samuel Coles (Janet); granddaughter Casey Petras (Matthew); great grandson Noah; granddaughter Ali Freadrich (Jarrad), great grandson Cole; sister Evelyn Cruickshank; sister-in-law Beatrice Hagley; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. <br> <br>A CELEBRATION OF JIM’S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. <br> <br>Flowers gratefully declined, donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Regina Canadian Legion Branch #1, 1820 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK S4P 2K2, Wascana Rehabilitation Center, Veterans Wing 3-5, 2180 - 23 Avenue, Regina, SK S4S 0A5, Saskatchewan SPCA, Box 37, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 3L1, United Church, 255 Main Street, Balgonie, SK S0G 0E0, Mutchmor Lodge, 328 Century Crescent, Regina, SK S4T 6M1 or charity of choice. <br> <br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.</div>
