Jack Beitel
December 4, 1917 - January 11, 2015
Jack Beitel of Regina passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the age of 97 years. Jack was born and raised in Spring Valley, SK. He later met and married the love of his life Magdalene Deis, on October 10, 1944 and together they raised four children.
He was predeceased by his parents Zacharias and Theresa (Klepsch) Beitel; his beloved wife Magdalene (Deis); and his son Vern. Jack is also predeceased by his brothers Joe, Seb, Mike, Ewalt, and Marty; brothers-in-law Pete Hirshmiller, Otto Mock, John Fink, Frank Beer, Wally Smith, Roy Haberlack, Tony Deis, Pius Deis, John Deis, Mike Deis, Charlie Deis, John Gangl, George Fink, and Bill Danylchuk; sisters-in-law Edith Beitel, Anne Deis, Theresa Deis, Alice Deis, Annie Gangl, and Eva Fink.
Jack is survived by his children Erwin (Carolyn) of Emerald Park, Moe (Bernie) Bast of Medicine Hat, and Murray (Iris) of Regina; grandchildren Crystal (Jerrod) Mohr, Candis, Blair Bast, Melissa (Kory) George, Danny and Michael (Caroline); great grandchildren Rebecca, Cohen, Jada, Myla and Brielle; step great grandchildren Kole and Karris; sisters Rose Hirshmiller, Betty Mock, Jean Fink, Olga Beer, Claire Smith, Frieda Haberlack, Anne Hinger, and Adeline Sitter; brothers Otto and Ed; sisters-in-law Barb, Regina, Anne, Molly, Sharon, Wendy, Sandra Deis, Angela Watteyne, Dorothy Deis, and Christine Danylchuk; brothers-in-law John Hinger, Pete Sitter and George Watteyne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack had a love of farming which he did all his life. He and Magdalene farmed in Spring Valley, Vibank, Lang, Estlin, and settled in Kronau until retiring to Regina. He enjoyed going to the farm every year including this past fall at age 96 for harvest time and in the spring for seeding. He always wanted to know how the crops were doing or was asking about the weather. He attended the Farm Progress Show and Agribition throughout the years.
Jack also loved visiting and hearing about his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always interested in how they were doing and what they were up to. Jack was a very independent man; he enjoyed hockey, curling, old time music, dancing, reading his newspapers, watching the news on TV and doing his own cooking, he enjoyed his sip of wine or schnapps right to his final days.
At Jack’s request no funeral service will be held, instead a private family gathering will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
