Helen was born on May 23, 1929 in the Southey district. Helen passed away peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Joe who passed away on May 18, 2015; parents Martin and Emily; brother Harold; and sister Doris.

Helen is survived by her daughter Brenda (Len) Zinkewich; grandchildren Jaryd and Tanya; sisters Tillie, Marilyn and Darlene; plus nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Helen attended Snowdrop School in the Southey district. German was the language spoken at her home, so Helen needed to learn to speak English at school. During her school days she helped with the meals and house work. Being the eldest, Helen also helped with the farm chores which included stooking and shoveling grain. Helen grew up loving to sing and yodel while playing her guitar. She had a beautiful voice. Before Helen married, she worked at the Earl Grey Hardware store. Later, she worked as Nanny for a family and took care of their home and children.

In 1950 she married Joe Hegglin from the Southey district. One of the special events Helen and Joe would attend was the all day Swiss Yodeling concerts in Qu’Appelle Valley. They would pack a picnic lunch so that they could stay all day and enjoy the beautiful yodeling that would echo through the valley. While on the farm, Helen and Joe worked together. When she had time, Helen enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her earlier years. Helen enjoyed cooking and she received many compliments on her bread and cinnamon buns. Helen’s garden on the farm was huge for a family of three plus a separate potato garden further in the field. Helen loved her garden and the sweet peas that grew along the side. Helen was on the farm until 2008.

A VISITATION for family and friends will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.

Many thanks to all who have been a part of Helen’s life.
