<div itemprop="description">George passed away peacefully at the Salvation Army Grace Hospice on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 with his family by his side. <br><br>He is survived by his daughter Carol (Gary); grandchildren Matthew (Chantelle), Michelle (John) and Kathryn (Jorge); great-grandchildren Laksmi, Keanan, Andrew, Lily and Avrielle; and son Brian. <br><br>George was born in Germany on January 31, 1929. He immigrated to Canada in 1952, landing in Halifax and boarding a train to Saskatoon where he lived for 20 years. While in Saskatoon he obtained his First Class Steam Engineering designation and a Degree in Education. He finished the last 44 years of his life in Regina where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Adult Education. <br><br>During his work life George had various jobs beginning as an apprentice with the German National Railway. However, his main employment was as a First Class Steam Engineer, a Power Engineering instructor and an adult education program developer and administrator. <br><br>George was a man of many passions and was a lifelong learner. He loved music and later in life decided to learn how to play the piano and the mandolin. George volunteered his time and especially enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language to new immigrants. He especially loved his family and enjoyed the times he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. <br><br>A Private Memorial Service will be carried out according to George’s wishes. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. <br><br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.</div>
