It is with much love that we say goodbye to our cherished wife, mom and grandma. On January 8th, 2017 Fran passed away peacefully with her family around her, just two weeks short of her 89th birthday and 63rd wedding anniversary. If love could have kept her alive she would have lived forever. Her resilience and determination to live was inspiring.

Fran will be lovingly remembered by her husband George; children Donna (Hugh), Larry and Elaine; and grandchildren Sarah and Laura.

She was predeceased by her parents Maisie and Frank Davies; and her baby brother (stillborn 1933).

Above all, Fran cherished her family, and also her many close friends that she enjoyed throughout her life. She had a profound love for all animals (especially her cat Maisie).

Fran was born in Saskatoon in 1928 and spent her early life in Corning, SK, where she attended public school. After several years of correspondence education, she moved to Colonsay for Grade 11 and then to Regina where she attended Central Collegiate for Grade 12.

During this time she pitched for the Eiler’s in the Regina Commercial Softball League.

She completed a business course at Sacred Heart Academy which led to work at Sasktel, Department of Highways, the Saskatchewan Traffic Board and finally the University of Regina where she retired.

George and Fran met in 1952 when they both worked at the Department of Highways at the Legislative Building. They married on January 23, 1954.

Fran took great pleasure in her hobbies of knitting, crocheting and needlepoint and had a special flair for fashion. Other activities included curling, bridge, golf and volunteering for Wesley Wheelers, the Diabetes Society and the Regina Humane Society. Mom’s greatest priority was her family in her role as wife and mother.

Heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Regina General Hospital for their expertise and compassionate care. This allowed Fran to live out her life at home.

A memorial will be held at a later date (to be announced). Please join us for an informal, come-and-go celebration of Fran’s life on Saturday, January 14th, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 38 Martin Street (Donna’s home).

Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.
