<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sadness that the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Brenda Reece announces her passing Friday, July 8, 2016 at the age of 86 years. <br><br>She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Edward Reece; her parents George and Brenda Winter; brothers Gordon, Eric and David. <br><br>Betty is survived by her brother Frank; son David (Wanda) their sons Garrett and Matthew; son Brian (Carole) their sons Nathan and Brendan; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. <br><br>Betty was born and raised in New Westminster, BC. She developed a love for swimming in open water at a young age and became a swimming instructor for a number of years. <br><br>Betty was a Lab Tech Assistant at the Royal Columbian Hospital for 16 years, prior to meeting and marrying Alf whom she met on a blind date. Alf travelled to BC for that date! They corresponded for a while before Alf sent Betty a package with a ring inside asking her to marry him; her reply was sent to Alf by letter. They were married in November 1963, and moved to the farm. <br><br>Betty was active in the community and loved the farm. She was instrumental in keeping their mixed farm operating when Alf was coaching their boys and community sport teams. Betty always had a big garden. She preserved vegetables and fruits from the garden and fruit trees. Betty was famous for her Saskatoon berry pies – and had an unending supply out her back door! <br><br>The family extends the greatest gratitude to the staff at the Regina General Hospital Emergency and Unit 6F for the amazing care she received during her final days. <br><br>A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Regina Funeral Home and cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina SK on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00 am. <br><br>Donations in memory of Elizabeth may be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 - 8 Street E, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5. <br><br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850.</div>
