It is with great sadness that Edwin’s family announce his passing on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the age of 91 years.

He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Helen (Harish); second wife, Alvina (Graham); parents, Joseph and Mary; and eleven brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Pat Wicks (Dave), Terry Paton (Lorraine) and Fay Rice (Russ); grandchildren, David Wicks (Liz), Katie Wicks, Kelly Paton, Gillian Paton, Clayton Rice (Samantha), Jennifer Rice and Michael Rice; great grandchildren, Judah, Mason, Peter and Temperance; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ed was born on October 12, 1922 on a farm near Hazenmore, SK. He was one of twelve children. Like many young men and women he volunteered for active army duty during World War II. While in the service he acquired many new life skills he was always proud of such as cooking and meat cutting. At the end of the war, work took him to the oil fields of Leduc where he met and married Helen. His career eventually led him to Regina and the Co-op Refinery, then to Federated Co-op where he worked until his retirement.

Ed loved travel and family camping trips.

As a young man he had participated in rodeos in southern Saskatchewan and in later years attended rodeo events whenever he had the opportunity. He was a keen card player and spent many hours watching baseball. He lived by the rules: work hard, always be ready to lend a helping hand and cherish your family and friends.

A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined.

Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.
