<div itemprop="description">It is with great sorrow and thanksgiving that we announce the passing of Alexander (Alex) J.Y. Guy at the age of 83 years at the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital. <br /><br />He was predeceased by his wife Donna (Forsyth); parents Nellie and Raymond Guy; parents in law Isabelle and Robert Forsyth; brother in law Robert Galloway; and nephew Gerry Galloway. <br /><br />Alex is survived by his daughter Glennys and son in law Todd Hunter; brother in law Alex (Elizabeth) Forsyth; sister in law Elvera Galloway; six nieces and nephews; and numerous honourary children who thought of him as their second father and friend. <br /><br />Alex was born in Broderick, SK and resided in many towns and cities in Saskatchewan as his father was a CPR Station Agent. He attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, received his Bachelors of Arts and Education from the University of Saskatchewan, and his Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the University of Alberta. He was a teacher and a principal with the Regina Public School Board Division for 18 years; an Associate Professor with the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus; a Director and a Deputy Minister of the Department of Continuing Education, and Deputy Minister of the Department of Telephones and the Department of Science and Technology. <br /><br />Following retirement from the public service Alex and Donna started their own business: a technology and financial support company. Community activities were very important to Alex and he was the Chairperson of Ranch Ehrlo Society; Chairperson of Ranch Ehrlo Community Services; Member of Regina Rotary Club, and former member of the Board of Governors of the University of Saskatchewan and of the University of Regina. Alex was a very active and proud Mason and joined the Moose Jaw Masonic Lodge #3 and participated in the following concordant bodies: Wascana Preceptory; Red Cross of Constantine; Cryptic Rite; Scottish Rite; the Shrine and was the founding Chapter Dad of the Regina Chapter of DeMolay. <br /><br />Alex was always interested in getting to know each person who crossed his path. He always had time to listen, to offer advice, to advocate and to aid in any way. Life&rsquo;s work done well! <br /><br />The family would like to thank the medical teams who helped care for Alex: the Emergency and CCU Teams at the General Hospital and the Palliative Care Team at the Pasqua Hospital. <br /><br />A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Tricia Gerhard officiating. <br /><br />In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wascana Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK S4R 8P6 or a charity of your choice. <br /><br />Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.</div>
