Our Mother in her 97th year was called home to her Lord and Saviour early Thursday morning September 11, 2014. Barbara was born December 29, 1916 and was raised by her parents Joseph and Anna Fink along with 10 siblings.

She was predeceased by her husband Percy in the year 2000 as well as by two children in their infancy (Cecil and Dorothy Jean). She is also predeceased by her siblings John, Ted, Lawrence, Jack, Rupert, Rose, Loretta and Clarence.

Left to mourn her passing are her children Clifford (Suzanne) Shaw, Joyce (Clifford) Deis, Larry (Donna) Shaw, James (Patricia) Shaw, and Richard (Sandy) Shaw. Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers Danny and Adolf (Eddy) as well as sisters-in-law Violet Fink, Jean Fink, Sally Finch and brother in-law Merne (Torchy) Torresan. She is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren all of whose birth dates she could recall from memory. She was blessed with an excellent memory and mind right to the very end of her life.

She married her husband Percy Shaw on December 29, 1941. They farmed and expanded the family farm in the Davin district that Dad’s father homesteaded in 1882. Together they developed and expanded a very successful mixed farming operation. They grew grain, raised cattle, pigs and chickens. She hated the chickens and the first opportunity to delete them from the operation they were gone.

Barbara’s passions were her family; a neat and orderly yard; her park on the farm and her yard in the city both filled with flowers and trees of all kinds. She maintained both a house on the farm and a house in the city until her final days. She was an excellent cook, although she loved to bake, but grew tired of the cooking part in her later years. Barbara and Percy were always there when you needed them. They looked after all of their grandchildren at one point in time or another while their parents either worked or went off to play.

Flowers are gratefully declined and donations may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, P.O. Box 1697, Regina, SK S4P 3C6 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.

We, the family would like to express our great appreciation for the exceptional care and kindness that was given our Mother by the Emergency Staff and Medical Intensive Care staff at the Regina General Hospital. We could not have asked for better care and assistance.

A FUNERAL MASS TO CELEBRATE OUR MOTHER’S LIFE will be held at the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 315 Douglas Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will take place at the Regina Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home (306) 789-8850.
