<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that Alfred’s family announces his passing on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the age of 86. <br><br>Alfred was predeceased by his parents Johanna and Adolf; and his sisters Freidel, Adele and Ingrid. <br><br>Leaving to cherish his memory, Norma his wife of 57 years; their daughters Janice (Rodney) and Adele (Gerry); his grandchildren Lisa (Kelly), Holly (Scott), Kristii, Thayne (Andrea) and Kyle; his great grandchildren Hailey, Keeton, Joie and Melia; his sister Brigetta (Adolf); as well as a large extended family and longtime friends both here in Canada and Germany. <br><br>Alfred grew up in Germany and in his early 20’s immigrated to Canada. He loved sharing stories of his youth and his life. He returned to Germany on several occasions as he always remained connected to his home country. <br><br>In Saskatchewan, he enjoyed many hunting and fishing adventures and generally just being outdoors. Alfred and Norma were able to share many memories travelling to warmer climates to escape the cold winters. Alfred always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends whether for a drink at the pub or a swim at the pool. <br><br>He worked many years with the CN Railway along with working in Security at the Regina Correctional Facility and at the Plain’s Health Centre. He took great pride in these roles and was known as someone who was easy to get along with, fair and kind. He was also a long-time member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.<br><br><br>Over the course of his life, he had many heart difficulties, surviving two open-heart surgeries along with other health issues. As a result, Alfred, was aware that life was a gift and he lived it to the fullest.<br><br> A CELEBRATION OF ALFRED’S LIFE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. <br><br>Donations in memory of Alfred may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 or a charity of one’s choice. <br><br>Arrangements entrusted to Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery (306) 789-8850. <br></div>
